About ISR
Founded in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett, Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is now the global leader in the industry it pioneered: survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. Our team of more than 1,000 Certified ISR Instructors in more than 20 countries provides the safest and most effective survival swimming lessons available. The ISR Self-Rescue instruction our students receive today is the product of more than 50 years of research and development and has resulted in more than 15 million safe lessons worldwide.
ISR believes that pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy.
Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.
Meet Your Instructor
After moving to South Florida, I became more aware of the prevalence of drowning for infants & toddlers in the United States – especially in our local community where drowning is the #1 cause of death. Coincidentally at the same time, a dear friend introduced me to ISR. This ignited my passion for making a difference in these daunting statistics and gave me an avenue to execute it.
After witnessing the ISR lessons' fantastic results, I felt compelled to help parents experience what I had. I was so impressed with ISR's technique & its philosophy that I decided to become an ISR Instructor.
It is absolutely amazing to see an infant confidently roll onto their back, float, and breathe until help arrives. I get chills every time a student not only nails their swim-float-swim sequence but also learns to LOVE the water. It warms my heart to help older students work through the fear of getting their faces wet and watch them fearlessly jump off the side of my pool to swim and float for fun and safety. Often when other swim programs have not worked specifically for them.
There is water everywhere here in South Florida. We need to prepare our children with the skills required to survive in & around the water. Teaching children and helping them become competent in their skills in the water is so important to me that teaching these lessons is not a task for me; it is my calling and passion.
I would be thrilled to meet you and teach your child!
